Toronto uses Eastern Time, exactly like New York: EST (UTC−5) in winter and EDT (UTC−4) from the second Sunday of March to the first Sunday of November. Ontario changes its clocks on the same dates as the United States.

Ontario and daylight saving time
Ontario passed a law in 2020 to stay on daylight time permanently, but it only takes effect if neighbouring Quebec and New York State do the same — so Toronto still changes its clocks twice a year.
The far west of Ontario is different: communities west of 90° W, such as Kenora and Fort Frances, follow Manitoba and from November 2026 stay on UTC−5 all year.
Business hours
The Toronto Stock Exchange trades from 9:30 to 16:00 Eastern Time, the same hours as the New York exchanges. A Toronto morning call reaches London in the early afternoon and Vancouver before dawn.
