PST to EST converter
Pacific Time (PT) → Eastern Time (ET)

People usually say “PST to EST”, but for most of the year the West and East Coasts are actually on PDT and EDT. This converter uses the real rules for the date you choose, so you never need to work out which abbreviation applies.

On 15 January 2027, Eastern Time (ET) is 3 h ahead of Pacific Time (PT); on 15 July 2027, the difference is 3 h.

What the abbreviations mean

Pacific Time (PT)

Pacific Time covers the US West Coast (California, Washington, Oregon, most of Nevada) and Baja California in Mexico. PST (UTC−8) is the standard-time name; during daylight saving time the region uses PDT (UTC−7). British Columbia stopped changing its clocks in 2026 and stays on UTC−7.

Eastern Time (ET)

Eastern Time covers the US East Coast (New York, Washington D.C., Florida, Georgia) and Ontario and Quebec in Canada. EST (UTC−5) is the standard-time name; during daylight saving time the region uses EDT (UTC−4).

  • Pacific and Eastern Time switch to and from daylight saving time on the same dates, so the difference is 3 hours on almost every day of the year.
  • Because each region switches at 2:00 a.m. local time, there are a few hours on each transition night when the gap is briefly 2 or 4 hours. The converter handles these automatically.
  • Arizona (except the Navajo Nation) does not observe DST, so it is not the same as Pacific Time in summer.
