Indonesia’s three time zones
Indonesia spans more than 5,000 km and uses three zones: WIB (UTC+7) for Sumatra, Java and western Kalimantan; WITA (UTC+8) for Bali, Sulawesi and Nusa Tenggara; and WIT (UTC+9) for Maluku and Papua. A flight from Jakarta to Bali crosses one of them, so Bali is an hour ahead of Jakarta.
Business hours
The Indonesia Stock Exchange trades from 9:00 to about 16:00 with a midday break. Jakarta shares its clock with Bangkok and Ho Chi Minh City and is one hour behind Singapore.
